Could I make a Living Playing Texas Holdem Online?

It is a strange phenomenon that when many people try a new sport or activity they will have amazing or very good short terms results. This is often called beginners luck.

It may be that not knowing what you are doing eliminates certain fears or trouble spots that experts avoid.

After my initial Texas Holdem Tournament success, reality set in. I was not going to make a several thousands dollars a month, working a few hours a day playing Texas Holdem online.

Realizing my initial success was beginner’s luck, I decided that I wanted to learn and improve my Texas Holdem Poker playing abilities.

Beginner’s Luck at Texas Holdem playing online!

I did some research on the net prior to registering at an online casino to play Texas Holdem online. I visited online Poker Forums and looked for any advice or comments on where to play. I wanted to start with a site that had a friendly environment and not alot of tough of competition.

I chose PokerRoom.com Free Signup Texas Holdem and I logged on and got a user id and password. I started out using play money to get a feel for the graphics and site. It is free to sign up and play Texas Holdem there.

After a week I deposited $50 in real money. I entered a tournament with a $10 entry fee and ended up placing second winning $357. I soon found out it was truly beginners luck.

The great thing about this site is there is no software download and it works on my Macintosh computer. It is one of the few site that works with Mac's.

How I started playing Texas Holdem Online

There has been a great deal of public interest regarding poker tournaments recently. Major networks such as ESPN have covered the highlights of the 2004 World Series of Poker along with other events. If you have watched these even for a few minutes they can be very captivating. There are poker play-by-play announcers explaining the action as it progresses. One of the breakthroughs was the invention of the hole card camera. This camera allows the TV viewer to see what the individual players cards are holding, and allows you to view their actions and strategies.

Ben Affleck recently won a fairly large Texas Holdem competition recently, and celebrity tournaments have been televised on TV as well.

Several times during the ESPN World Series of poker the announcers stated that certain players qualified for the World Series of Poker Via Internet Tournaments called satellite tournaments

I had always wanted to play poker in Las Vegas but was too intimidated being a novice, along with not being too interested in giving up my small bankroll to the experienced poker players there. I decided to give online poker playing a try.
